October 2, 2026: Iraq became the second-largest oil supplier to India in September, reflecting an increase in supplies to the Indian market compared to the previous month.
Data from Kpler, a leading data platform that tracks commodity flows and maritime shipping, indicates that India’s imports of Iraqi crude reached approximately 579,000 barrels per day between September 1 and September 27.
Iraq followed Russia, which was the largest oil supplier to India, with 1.74 million barrels per day. Saudi Arabia supplied 570,000 barrels per day, followed by the UAE with 483,000 barrels per day and Kuwait with 333,000 barrels per day.
India’s total crude oil imports during September reached approximately 5.25 million barrels per day, a 13 percent increase compared to the average of 4.65 million barrels per day in August.
